A Pep Talk

Here I post an advisory speech and a pep talk provided by a teacher before his students left for a summer break,2019... get inspired.

“Dear Students,
As you leave the school for your summer break today, do not forget to make note of the following messages from your Principal on the title, "Tell Them."

"Here I quote:

'Greetings to your beloved parents and guardians! I send my warmest regards to your kith and kin! Convey my warm wishes to your parents!'

'Travel safe and know that nature is sometimes unkind, particularly during the monsoon season. When you reach home, leave us a message mentioning that you are perfectly ok. Your safety is my priority. You should stay safe and healthy for your future, parents’ future, and country’s future. Your future is my country. You are the upcoming guardian of this country. Your promises are urgent for Bhutan. The stake is high. You cannot be complacent and mess up your life over nitty gritty things. Stay safe, tight and healthy. The nation needs quality and healthy citizens.'

'Yes, don’t forget to tell your parents, relatives, friends and guardians that you have teachers, who are motivated, selfless, and leaves no stones un-turned for your education. Tell them that teachers getup as early as you in the morning, escorting, guiding and nourishing you for the whole day with the best possible knowledge and food. Tell them that your teachers stay late in the school taking remedial activities and performing the study duties with a renewed hope. Tell them your principal says that you have the most hardworking and grittier groups of teachers, upon which the quality of education hinges.'

'Yes, tell them that you have a principal who worked for you and your friends without salary for three months. Tell them that you have a principal who got four years of post study work visa overseas but sacrificed the growth of his personal and family wealth, and came back to Bhutan for you and your friends’ education. Tell them that your principal is giving priority of your education over his children‘s because he knows that for financially poorer students, education is the only equalizer and enabling factor to do well in life. Tell them that your principal works for you without losing hopes even though he is stuck in grade five (P2) for 6 years and when his juniors are all in higher grades. Tell them that your principal cares for your education and your life, though he receives almost none from the significant others.'

'Tell them that your principal is uncompromising of your conduct, character, and deprivation of Bhutanese etiquette such as Sem Go Chep Zoni, Tha Damtse, and Ley Gju Drey, which are the cornerstones of being a Bhutanese and living in a Gross National Happiness (GNH) country. Tell them that your principal holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in education from Australia, and is a thrilling academician and thus, he wants you all to do extremely well in academic related activities, and be at par with the international students in terms of knowledge, skills and values. Tell them that your principal teaches 15 periods a week in addition to other instructional leadership and administration work. Tell them that your principal has initiated and collected from donors and other sources a total amount of Nu.80,000/- for the academic excellence awards (AXA program), which was aimed at encouraging you and your friends to do well in academic performances. Tell them that your principal values the concept of Green School and works towards fulfilling it. The acronym goes as follows:

G-Gift of Knowledge;
R- Reward for hard work;
E- Education for life long learning;
E-Empowerment of School Citizenship;
N- Nurture the nature of motherhood;
                                                                                S- Safe School;
                                                                                C- Clean Campus/Surroundings;
                                                                                H- Happy home;
                                                                                O- Ownership of oneness;
                                                                                O- Offer opportunity;
                                                                                L- Living Learning Laboratory.'

'Tell them all the work your principal does including, duties surrounding an evening study, a Sunday reading, and a monthly meeting with captains and staff for the benefits of you and your friends. Tell them that your principal looks after the welfare of your teachers, staff, students, and maintain a robust community relationship including the local district head and parents.'

'Please, tell them our school is becoming physically, aesthetically, ecologically, environmentally, academically, morally, spiritually, emotionally, culturally, and psychologically greener, better and dynamical.'

'Please, tell them, tell them, and tell them all we do here as your foster parents, carers, teachers, masters and harbingers. Oh! One last thing, tell them your principal loves singing, playing guitar, and recently composed a school theme song.'

'Please, tell them all this!'

Don’t forget these words of our principal. Don’t forget to tell them your near and dear ones about these messages. Together we can do lot of great things. I will see you as good as you are today after a month. Don’t forget to help your parents, read books and enjoy. Look for know-how and buy-in activities. There is always a rewarding experience at the end. What is a better age than yours for a better learning? I couldn’t find better than yours.
I will miss you all!
With regards.
Your Teacher, Jimmy”
